The condition of the 85 most wealthy billionaires equals what we have total 3.5 billion people worldwide
The general condition of the 85 richest people in the world equals that of the poorest 3.5 billion people on the planet . The calculation results of the analysis of Oxfam "Working for the Few", dedicated to income inequality and its effects.
In its report, the global organization puts detailed data on inequality, which is created by the surge of the condition of the rich. According to the document , it raises huge risks to the progress of mankind .
Oxfam calculations show that in 2013 210 people have become billionaires , which have joined the elite club of total 1426 people with assets of more than a billion dollars. The general condition of these people is equivalent to 5.4 trillion. dollars.
The richest one percent of the world population has a net worth of 110 trillion. dollars, or 65 times more than the poorer half of humanity . This equates to half of the world's wealth.
"Such a massive concentration of economic resources in the hands of a few poses a significant threat to the political and economic systems. Instead of moving forward together , people are increasingly separated from the political and economic power , which inevitably increases social tensions and the risk of breakdown of society, " the report said .
The document was published just before the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos. It Oxfam urged global leaders to take steps to reverse the process to a sharp increase in inequality.
Some of the recommendations are aimed at changing the policy of favoring the rich with tax breaks and other political favors . According to a study of the organization in many countries, people believe that laws and regulations are made in favor of the rich.
" A study in six countries - Spain , Brazil, India, South Africa , USA and the UK shows that the majority of people are convinced that the laws are made in the service of God," the document says .
For example, given India, where for the past 10 years billionaires increased from only six to 61 people. They concentrate wealth worth 250 billion dollars. "What is shocking is the share of this elite minority in the total national wealth - from 1.8 per cent in 2003 it reached 26 per cent in 2008 ," the report said .
The document states that seven out of ten people live in a country where income inequality has increased in the last 30 years. In the U.S., economic growth since 2009 has brought an increase in wealth of 95% of the club of the wealthiest percentage of Americans , while 90% of the total population have proved impoverished .
